The
Tawe Delta Blues Club was set up in June 1999 after Louise
went on a 'blues trail' down to Mississippi and Chicago. The many blues
bars she visited inspired her to set up something similar in Swansea.
Louise also thought that it would be a new venture for her partner, Terry
Williams, of Dire Straits fame. Terry's knowledge of the music industry
and his many contacts proved invaluable in getting the club up and running.

The club originally started in the Heathfield Club, Mount Pleasant. Although
this was a decent enough venue, it wasn't ideally situated and difficult
for people to find. Finally, the club moved to The Salisbury on Walter
Road and this has proved an ideal venue and the committee has been extremely
supportive and helped shape the club in its present form.
Terry and Louise
have continued to run the club with help from their friends including
Gary (website!), The Dancing Ladies, Sheila and, most importantly, Phil
Tanner. Phil has been Terry and Louise's right hand man for a number of
years and has been a fantastic friend to them and the club and they
would like to thank him for his constant support.
A 'Hall of Fame' is also in place and much of the memorabilia collected
by Terry is now at The Salisbury, hanging on the walls.

The Aims of The Tawe
Delta Blues Club
The Tawe Delta Blues Club is a non profitable club. Any profit is ploughed
back into the club. The aim of the club is to get national and international
blues acts, always striving to get the best acts and in the meantime nurturing
new, local blues talent. We always try and keep the prices as low as possible
to watch the bands. The price usually ranges from £5
depending on the price of the band. Sometimes, we have to charge a little
more for the more costly acts but we try and avoid this as far as possible.
We hope that visitors to Swansea who are blues fans will search us out
and enjoy the blues in this small corner of Swansea.
