| March 6th | Snatch It Back |
Formed in the mid-1980s, Cardiff's Snatch It Back have been regarded as "South Wales' premier blues band" for so long now that the phrase has almost become an appendix to their name. Despite numerous line-up changes - and a brief period spent gigging and recording as The Boogie Band - the brief has always remained the same: to play tough, no-messin', Chicago-style blues. Maybe with a hint of Texas, a dash of Memphis, a sprinkling, occasionally of New Orleans funk, but for the most part this has always been an outfit steeped in the sounds of Howlin' Wolf, Little Walter, and Willie Dixon Check out the Band's Website |
| March 13th | Johnny Mars |
Songwriter/harmonica player/vocalist Johnny Mars was born in 1942 in Laurens, South Carolina the son of sharecroppers. At the age of nine Johnny was given his first harmonica. His family moved all over the South Eastern States: North Carolina, Georgia, Florida and Washington. He met many good harmonica players cultivating his love for the blues harp. In high school he formed his first band. After graduation he gigged around New York and recorded with his band "The Burning Bush" for Mercury Records. The Scandinavian press were the first to title him "The Jimi Hendrix of the Harmonica". He is an innovative musician and has a dynamic stage persona, making use of electronic effects to extend his range. |

Storm Warning (UK) |
Website - http://www.stormwarning.co.uk/ This is a band with five diverse influences that happens to make exciting music. The blues is a form that changes its shape and character to suit whoever is playing it and so this band has a very unique sound. Harmonica based, they are certainly a very versatile entertaining band bluesband but not like some bands who play the basic blues riff throughout. This band will entertain you with pure blues |

Kent Duchaine (UK)
|
One of the very few solo artists to play
the club as Kent is, quite simply, a pure bluesman who can hold his own
against any band. He learned to play the guitar at 13 and progressed to
slide in 1969. Kent performed with the legendary Kim Wilson when they
backed many of the original blues greats. He found his beloved
Leadbessie guitar in 1979 and was honoured by Robert Johnson with a WC
Handy Award in 1991. Willie Dixon arranged a recording contract and a
concert sharing the bill with Albert Collins, John Lee Hooker and
Howling Wolf. He settled back in the USA to be closer to the music he
loves. After immersing himself in the music of the blues greats Kent has
developed his own electrifying stule of slide / bottleneck that is
second to none .... Authentic slide at its best |

The Worried Men (UK)
|
Website - http://www.theworriedmen.com/ In the winter months of 1994, guitarist JAMIE THYER took time out from playing on demonstrations for Marshall amplifications and Rotosound strings. He began writing and rehearsing with a rhythm section under the ironic name of THE WORRIED MEN. Initially, they considered that the originality of their style and direction would place them on the outer peripheries of fashion motivated rock music, yet, because of their ability to entertain and not merely play, enthusiastic audiences, promoters and even record companies swiftly disproved this! With the imminent release of their sixth album Righteous!, THE WORRIED MEN are touring constantly around England, looking forward to their by now traditional appearances at the world famous Great British R & B and Gloucester Blues Festivals, with European dates later this year. "Think of Thorogood, Gary Moore, Wilko Johnson. These boys can show 'em all a clean pair of heels" - British Blues Connection |
