Winter 5 A Side Tournament at Pontardawe Leisure Centre

Congratulations to Gary Taylor and his team for winning the inaugural Pontardawe Town non-invitational 5 a side tournament.

This was a very competitive tournament which was masterfully refereed by Clive "The Book" Thomas and his assistant Jason "You Cheating ****" Dykes

Goals from Gary Taylor and Dale Otten gave a 2-0 win in the final after 8 teams battled through the group stages.

The final teams were :

Winners : Gary Taylor, Stuart Hoskins, Dale Otten, Mark Nappieralla, Ben Hopkins (GK)
Runners Up : Gareth Govier, Andy Lewis, Luke Evans, Arwel, Rees, Paul Sullivan (GK)

Not all the details of the tournament were noted down which was due to the constant complaining of Steff Davies who captained his team to the wooden spoon . . better luck next time Steff !!

The players have asked me to give a special mention to Jason  "You Cheating ****" Dykes's team, the Oranges, who were Richard South, Paul Lenihan, Steve Cox and Robbie Daniels.

Minge of the Tournament went to Dale Otten for his comment "we'll play up hill" !

Player of the tournament went to Ben Hopkins for his performances in goal

Special mention for the other goalkeeper, John Burridge (Paul Sullivan), who pulled off some excellent saves but his gift to Arwel Rees in one of the group games will be remembered for some time to come
