Transfer News at Pontardawe
Town
 |
The club are
pleased to announce the return of Garry Taylor
who signed for us this evening following a spell
at Haverfordwest County. Garry has been the form
player down in Pembrokeshire this season but
returns to the club closest to his heart!
In commenting on his return Garry said "can my
old man get in for nothing on Saturday?"
|
 |
The club are also pleased to announce the
signing of Oliver Ardolino from Ammanford Town.
Oli comes to the club with a fine reputation
having also played at Llanelli and Carmarthen
Town.

Ton Pentre Match Called Off
Despite a
possible thaw an early decision was made today in respect of the
game as the officials were travelling from the far west of Pembroke.
The pitch was frozen and in some places surface water was in
evidence. Furthermore, the conditions in and around the village of
Pontardawe were difficult due to black ice.
17/12/2011 : Grant Application
Turned Down Update
In October
the club entered an application to Welsh Ground Improvements for the
replacement of damaged and vandalised crowd barriers at the
Recreation Ground. This was not a large application but it was
rejected by the organisation on a technicality. The club has
therefore appealed to the Welsh League Management Committee who have
agreed to discuss this at the next meeting. In the meantime the
damaged barriers will be removed from the ground and we will seek
funding from elsewhere.
Update
17/12/2011 :
Discussions
with the WGI have clarified the position that they do not recognise
companies who deal on eBay as legitimate despite the savings of
£4000 we could have achieved through eBay against other suppliers.
In addition our application in October 2011 was judged by the WGI
against failure of Ground Criterea actions that had been cleared and
resolved last season but "they weren't aware"..... in addition they
were also aware at the time that our ground was a number of meters
short and at that time we weren't aware. We are now and have since
proved that the Welsh League Grounds Committee were incorrect and
that our ground is actually 1 metre short and we now have a plan in
place !
We asked the
Welsh League Committee to assist and support us ... but the haven't
and will not be !!!
Have we been
cheated ? .... answers on a postcard please !
09/12/2011 : Players Night Out ... and
Committee's Too
On Saturday
10th December the lads from the Senior Squad have arranged their
Christmas Night Out which we understand will involve a certain
amount of fancy dress! .... Although invited we on the committee
will be partaking in a few hot chocolates before retiring to the
local Indian to share a pilau rice or two .... Happy Christmas
Everyone!!!

Kenny Jackett helps our Swansea Valley Miners Fund Auction
Current
Milwall manager, former Swansea City manager, and former Watford and
Wales legend Kenny Jackett has kindly donated a gift to our Swansea
Valley Miners Fund auction which can be seen by clicking the eBay
link below.
In the 1940s
Kenny's dad, Frank, played here at Pontardawe and Kenny has
supported us by donating a signed programme from the 2006 Football
League Trophy between Swansea City and Carlisle United. Kenny was
manager of the Swansea City team that won the Trophy by 2 goals to
1. Swansea City's goals came from
Lee Trundle
and Adebayo Akinfenwa but the game hit the headlines for the
wrong reasons as Lee Trundle and Alan Tate held up an anti Cardiff
City flag
Nevertheless
we now have the programme on our eBay auction and on advice it has
been set with a reserved value of £50 as we continue our efforts to
raise funds for the Swansea Valley Miners

The lads, management team and officials are dedicated to
raising funds for the Swansea Valley Miners Fund and our
donations are to be auctioned off on eBay. To view our

In the group games
Dan's team won 3-0, 3-0, 1-0 and 2-1. They then beat Ystrad 2-1
after extra time in the semi with Liam Roberts grabbing both goals.
In the final they met the other Ystrad team with a goal from Arwel

Reserve Division West Restructure Announced
After
representations were made by clubs to the League regarding the
travelling distances involved in having two reserve divisions (East
and West) the League reverted to three divisions (Central, East and
West). Subsequently, further representations were made concerning
the shortage of fixtures as a result of reverting to three reserve
divisions.
The
League's Management Committee recently considered the matter and
decided, irrespective of the number of clubs per division, each club
would have 24 fixtures (12 at home and 12 away).
Therefore, revised fixtures have been issued.
The
only other competition for reserves will be the Classic Sportswear
Reserve Division Cup, the draw for which will be made on the evening
of Monday 12 September and advised to clubs as soon as possible
thereafter.
Please note Newcastle Emlyn have withdrawn from Reserve Division
West.

Welsh League U Turn on Reserve Team Setup
Disappointingly the Welsh League has performed a U Turn in respect of
the originally plan for 2 large Reserve Team leagues and have created 3
leagues, as per the 2010-2011 season, with the West Division containing
only 10 teams leaving us with a only 18 games plus Cup games. This
causes concern in relation to the credibility of the Reserve league and
the club will be raising this matter with the Welsh League as soon as
possible.

30/05/2011 - All Change at Pontardawe
Town
As we finish our season there have been some changes with respect to
the football committee with Mike Rogers (Chairman), Mark Hancock
(Treasurer) and Chris Mills (Commercial Manager) all standing
down.
Mike has been chairman for 2 seasons and is standing down due to
family and work commitments. Mike has been a great asset to the
club in his time here helping out on the football and social
side. We wish Mike all the very best and hope he can find the
time in the future to join us as we continue to grow the club.
Mark has been treasurer for 2 years and has put a lot of effort
in, despite his work commitments, to ensure that the finances
are in order. Mark is also a singer and a compere so will
certainly be hoping Mark will also stick around in years to
come.
Chris has many commitments away from
Pontardawe Town which have caught up with him. The little task
of climbing Mt Kilimanjaro for charity is taking up a lot of his
time in addition to his work commitments. Chris is a big
supporter of the club and has many friends around the place so
we are sure he will continue to support the club in all aspects.
So as we look to the future we have moved
quickly and are pleased to announce that Martin Blizzard has
accepted the role of Chairman for the immediate future. Martin
has been a great asset since joining us this season and his
knowledge of the local businesses is an area we will be looking
to harness from a sponsorship perspective.
Phil Govier, who everyone knows by now, has
agreed to become the football side's treasurer although due to
the current climate it is fair to say that Phil will not have a
lot do (Ha Ha!).
The role of Commercial Manager remains
vacant in addition to other posts on the committee as we look to
build on this fantastic season. If you are interested please
contact us.
